How to Install Kaspersky Anti-Virus on Windows

Here’s a step-by-step guide to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus on a Windows computer.

Step 1: Download Kaspersky Anti-Virus

  1. Open a web browser and visit the official Kaspersky website at .

  2. Navigate to the Products section and select Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

  3. Choose the version that suits your needs, and click the Download button.

  4. Save the setup file (typically named kav.exe) to your computer.

Step 2: Run the Installer

  1. Navigate to the folder where the installer was downloaded (usually the "Downloads" folder).

  2. Double-click the kav.exe file to start the installation process.

  3. If prompted by User Account Control (UAC), click Yes to allow the installer to make changes to your device.

Step 3: Begin Installation

  1. The Kaspersky Anti-Virus installation window will open.

  2. Review the End User License Agreement (EULA) and Kaspersky Security Network Statement. If you agree, check the appropriate boxes and click Continue.

  3. You may be prompted to enable the Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), which helps in enhancing protection. Participation is optional; choose whether or not to enable it, then click Install.

Step 4: Wait for Installation to Complete

  1. The installer will begin downloading and installing necessary components. This process may take several minutes depending on your internet connection and system performance.

  2. Once the installation is complete, a confirmation screen will appear.

Step 5: Activate Kaspersky Anti-Virus

  1. After the installation, you will be prompted to activate the software.

  2. If you have a license key:

    • Enter the key in the provided field and click Activate.

  3. If you don’t have a license yet, you can activate a free trial by selecting Activate Trial License.

  4. Click Finish to complete the activation process.

Step 6: Update the Virus Database

  1. After activation, Kaspersky Anti-Virus will automatically start an update to ensure that the virus database is up to date.

  2. Wait for the update to finish before scanning your system.

Step 7: Run an Initial Scan

  1. Once Kaspersky Anti-Virus is installed and updated, it’s recommended to perform an initial scan of your system.

  2. Open Kaspersky Anti-Virus by clicking the icon in the system tray (bottom-right of your screen) or via the Start Menu.

  3. In the main window, click on Scan and choose either Quick Scan or Full Scan to check your computer for any threats.
