How to Install Kaspersky Anti-Virus on Mac
Follow these steps to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus on your macOS device:
Step 1: Download Kaspersky Anti-Virus
Open your web browser and go to the official Kaspersky website at www.kaspersky.com.
Navigate to the Products section and select Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac (as Kaspersky Anti-Virus is not available separately for macOS, Internet Security provides equivalent protection).
Click Download and save the setup file (
kismac.dmg
) to your Mac.
Step 2: Open the Installer
Once the download is complete, open the Downloads folder and locate the
kismac.dmg
file.Double-click the
kismac.dmg
file to mount the installation disk image.A new window with the Kaspersky installer will open. Double-click the Install Kaspersky Internet Security icon.
Step 3: Allow Installation
If macOS asks whether to allow the app to make changes, click Open.
Enter your administrator password when prompted, and click OK to proceed with the installation.
Step 4: Begin Installation
The Kaspersky installation wizard will appear. Review the End User License Agreement (EULA), and if you agree, check the box and click Continue.
You may also be asked to participate in the Kaspersky Security Network (KSN). You can choose to participate or skip this step by unchecking the box.
Step 5: Grant Necessary Permissions
During the installation, Kaspersky will request access to certain system settings. Follow these steps to grant the necessary permissions:
A window will open asking you to allow the installation of system extensions. Click Open Security Preferences.
In the Security & Privacy window, click the Allow button next to the message that says "System software from developer 'Kaspersky' was blocked."
You may need to unlock this section by clicking the lock icon in the bottom-left corner and entering your administrator password.
Kaspersky may also request access to Full Disk Access:
Open System Preferences and go to Security & Privacy > Privacy tab.
Select Full Disk Access from the list on the left, then click the + button to add Kaspersky to the list of apps that have full access.
Find the Kaspersky Anti-Virus app in your Applications folder and add it.
Close the Security & Privacy settings after granting the required permissions.
Step 6: Complete Installation
Once all permissions have been granted, the installer will proceed with the installation.
When the installation is finished, click Done to exit the installer.
Step 7: Activate Kaspersky Anti-Virus
After installation, Kaspersky Anti-Virus will prompt you to activate the software.
If you have a license key, enter the key in the activation window and click Activate.
If you don’t have a license, you can select Activate Trial Version for a limited trial period.
Step 8: Update the Virus Database
Kaspersky Anti-Virus will automatically check for updates after activation. Let it update to ensure that the virus definitions are up to date.
Wait for the update to complete before proceeding.
Step 9: Perform an Initial Scan
Once the installation and updates are complete, open Kaspersky Anti-Virus by clicking the Kaspersky icon in the menu bar or by navigating to Applications > Kaspersky Internet Security.
In the main window, click Scan and choose either a Quick Scan or Full Scan to scan your Mac for any threats.
You have now successfully installed and set up Kaspersky Anti-Virus on your Mac. The software will monitor and protect your system from malware, viruses, and other online threats.
